Is it our time?

Whenever I turn on the TV and hear the news, it's always about typhoon and flooding. Panic has become a household name, Fear is the new mood of the town. After 3 typhoons, another one is coming with a possible earthquake on top!  People have died in floods, landslides and now, leptospirosis. This has to stop.

Been busy lately

it's me packing clothes from the old collection

40% of the office population has been affected by typhoon Ondoy. To do our share, we gave out old collection clothes to the victims. The Rosario Sports Arena was filled with mud covered victims seeking refuge from the flood and rains. Different vans and trucks parked at the facade offering relief goods from food to clothes, including ours. We also did rounds to check out the villages in ortigas extension with the emergency van for trapped victims. Riverside, De Castro and Floodway areas were flooded almost 2 storey high. Residents get alarmed whenever they hear engine sounds hoping it is the rescue team or a truck of food supply. Day 2 we revisited the areas in great need of clothing supply. Not much has changed physically but some residents are rebuilding their lives and started to make a living. A week passed but some areas are still flooded. Our team will continue to give out relief goods in different Barrangays until this catastrophe is over. I just don't know how these people would ever recover for the 3 more typhoons to come...

Happy to Help

The last 3 days have been traumatic for everyone and Manila has never been this unprepared for the heavy rains. Death toll increases every hour, countless missing, homes wrecked, what can we do to help? Twitter has played a big role in the rescue operation of the stranded victims. It has become the emergency hotline for those who were able to keep thier mobile phones on top of thier roofs. Different companies offered help through text messages and twits to ABS-CBN foundation and GMA Kapuso foundation. Petron gas stations are drop off points of relief goods and help. There are other means of helping, we can do our share in our own little way. More help come, more lives saved.
